Hey gang. Guess it’s the monthly update now? Some interesting stuff to write about.
The road the NYCC starts now. The event every year that is nearest and dearest to my heart. It’s been kind of wild to go from attending the event as a fan to now going as a professional. Joy remains the same, but it’s a little less time in the back issue bins. Never posted about it during the website hiatus, but I actually did Artist Alley back in 2023. This was a career bucket list and I tabled artist Rafael Perez. Artist Alley was never a place a spent a ton of time in when I was younger but became invaluable as I explored becoming a professional in comics. I just remember walking around and realizing, “This is where I want to be”
As of now, I’m planning to shop around two projects at the con? One with artist Rafael Perez, who just had his first Marvel work published with Amazing Spider-Man: Spider-Versity and another with an artist I cannot mention right now, but am super excited to work with. As of now, I’m hoping to have Ashcans of both available for friends and for networking? It’ll be close but that is always part of the excitement. Rafa is a rising star in the industry, and I am extraordinary happy to see him getting the recognition he deserves.
I’m happy and optimistic to see the publishers return to NYCC in the past few years. There was a real pullback after COVID, and the show felt off without them. Last year was a really excellent step as far as representation, with Marvel, DC, IDW, Boom, Vault & Mad Cave all being very prominent on the show floor. Happy to see Dark Horse making their return this year. I am 100% into manga, anime, wrestling, and others represented but I’ve always loved NYCC for feeling like a true Comic Con.
Anyway, this week we are back with this adventures of Alex and Jack. Jack has some DVDs to return, or does he? Enjoy!
